How to Recover a Lost Network Key for a Linksys Router

Step 1

Are you locked out of your own wireless network? Go to your main computer and open up the Linksys Router control screen
Step 2

In the Internet web browser (even if you cannot connect yet) type in exactly: http://192.168.1.1. This is your router's LAN address and will give you access to a host of control screens.
Step 3

The tab that you are most interested in is the security tab, click this tab on the top of the screen. This may unlock your code, so to speak.
Step 4

The WEP is revealed in this screen. Print out this screen by selecting file, print from the top menu of your web browser. Check to see if it printed out in its entirely and that no digits are missing from the end. If they are, fill in the missing numbers as needed.
Step 5

Type it in exactly when prompted by wireless network setup screens of the other computers. This will ensure you have the proper key and let you on the local network and Internet.
Step 6

Return to the original computer and close out of the Linksys screen by clicking the red "x" in the upper right hand corner
